About We the People: Celebrating 250 Years

We the People: Celebrating 250 Years is a countywide initiative commemorating the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence and the founding of the United States of America.

Through educational programs, historical presentations, arts activities, patriotic ceremonies, exhibits, performances, and family-friendly events, we are bringing the people of Pike County, Alabama, together to reflect on our nation’s history, celebrate our shared heritage, and inspire future generations.

This initiative is made possible through the collaboration of local organizations, community leaders, educators, artists, historians, veterans, volunteers, and citizens who share a commitment to preserving and celebrating the story of America. Events take place throughout Pike County and are designed to engage residents of all ages in meaningful and memorable ways.

As our nation approaches its 250th anniversary on July 4, 2026, we invite everyone to join us in exploring the people, ideas, sacrifices, and achievements that have shaped our country over the past two and a half centuries.

Whether you attend a lecture, participate in a community art project, enjoy a concert, visit a museum, take part in a patriotic ceremony, or volunteer at an event, you are helping tell the ongoing story of America and Pike County’s place within it.
